In order to provide in-dept understanding, the technical trip to the province that is the most well known for its historic pavement design and construction, is offered to participants.*
Kanchanaburi is located in the western part of Thailand and situated only 129 km from Bangkok. The province is widely known for its nature beauty as it contains a number of stunningly beautiful falls and rivers, for example Erawan Waterfall National Park, Huai Kamin Fall, and both Saiyok Yai and Noi falls

Furthermore, the long history of the province enhances its popularity. The  most two interesting tourist attractions are “Bridge Over The River Kwai“ and “Death Railway”, the historic evidences reflecting to the well developed ancient pavement techniques as well as the memorable tragic history of the World War II.

08.00 hrs. Depart Bangkok for Kanchanaburi
11.00 hrs. Arrive Kanchanaburi, visit:
 
  • The world’s famous Bridge on the River “Kwai”.  The black iron bridge was brought from Java by the Japanese army and reassembled by Allied Prisoners of War (POW) labor as part of the Death Railway linking Thailand with Myanmar.  Being the target of frequent Allied bombing raids during 1945, it was rebuilt after the war ended.  Its curve spans in use today are the original sections.
  • War Cemetery, the cemetery of the remains of over 6,000 prisoners of war, who lost their lives during the construction of the “Death Railway”
  • JEATH Museum, an open air museum constructed in bamboo to duplicate a prisoner or war camp where collections of photographs, war weapons, utensil and other material from the war era are on display.

13.00 hrs. Thai lunch at one of the local restaurants
14.00 hrs. Continue driving to Nam-Tok station, the last existing train station of the Thailand-Burma railway in Thailand
15.15 hrs. Take a train ride along part of the “Death Railway” passing the dangerous looking wooden viaduct built along the mountain.
16.30 hrs. Alight the train and continue the journey by motor coach returning to Bangkok
20.00 hrs. Approximate arrival in Bangkok.
